Create ANSEL-encoded files
in regular Windows or Macintosh applications

LaserANSEL enables the user to create files in regular Windows and Macintosh applications which may be transferred to bibliographic software that requires standard ANSEL encoding (e.g., MARC). The ANSEL font (often called the "MARC" font) contains the Latin alphabet of ASCII plus characters and diacritics conforming to the American National Standard Extended Latin Alphabet Coded Character Set for Bibliographic Use. For greater flexibility of use, Linguist's Software has added diacritics for uppercase letters and a number of special letter combinations.

The ANSEL font does not require the use of specialized MARC software, but will work in all Windows and Macintosh applications that give the user access to the TrueType and/or Type 1 fonts installed in the system.

The ANSEL font is ASCII-compatible between the Windows and Macintosh versions of the product. File transfer between platforms using ANSEL may be made in RTF (Rich Text Format) or in text-only format.

The ANSEL font is available in a Times®-style (serif font) and in a Courier®-style (monowidth font), both in TrueType and Type 1 formats, in plain, bold, italic, and bold-italic styles.

LaserANSEL for Windows

System Requirements: The fonts install into Microsoft® Windows 7, Vista, XP, or 2000, and work with all Windows 7-, Vista-, XP-, and 2000-compatible applications that allow the user to select fonts from a font menu. (A previous version is available for Windows NT, Me, 98, or 95; please contact the Sales office.) The product includes a User's Manual and keyboard layout chart(s). The included keyboard driver(s) allows access to four characters per key (instead of the normal two) and alternate keyboard layouts. All documentation is in PDF format, available on the Windows Start menu, and can be viewed and/or printed using Adobe Reader. The fonts will print to any printer at the highest quality allowed by your printer.

A custom version (fonts only) is available for Linux, but Linux users must provide alternate keyboard input for characters in the extended character set. If you are ordering for Linux be sure to select the Linux box on the Order Form.
