For Easy Transfer of LaserGreek® and
LaserGreek II Text Between Windows and Macintosh Computers
|
for Windows |
for Macintosh |
LaserGreek CrossPlatform Converter makes
collaboration between Windows and Macintosh users of LaserGreek
and LaserGreek II fonts much easier than before. Now
you can simply run a Word macro to convert
LaserGreek and LaserGreek II text in Microsoft Word documents between Word for
Windows format and Word for Macintosh format. The
converter is a series of macros embedded in a Microsoft Word file. You
simply copy the appropriate macros into each of the Word files you receive that
contain LaserGreek text and run the macros to convert the text to the
LaserGreek arrangement of your computer platform. The macros do not
affect any other text in your files except the LaserGreek (and/or LaserGreek II)
text, allowing you to retain your file's original formatting. The LaserGreek
CrossPlatform Converter makes a daunting task simple.
Have you ever received a Word-formatted file
containing LaserGreek or LaserGreek II text from someone using the "other"
computer platform from the one you use? (That is, you are in Windows and you receive
a Word for Macintosh file, or vice versa.) When you open the Word file the Latin text and most of the Greek is fine but some of the
Greek accents and breathing marks, and the text critical symbols and
sigla have been corrupted. This is because Word's export/import filters are
expecting all text in the document to be in the Latin 1 character set
(English and west European languages), and Word
does not know how to convert the LaserGreek text. Until now the only
solutions were to retype the Greek portions of the document, or to carefully save the original document as plain text, transfer the
document, and carefully reformat it. But the LaserGreek CrossPlatform Converter
allows you to send your Word documents with Greek text in them to your
colleagues who use "the other computer platform", and after they run the
macros in the LaserGreek CrossPlatform Converter your Greek text will be
perfectly formatted.
This makes the LaserGreek CrossPlatform Converter a valuable tool for those who are
collaborating in a mixed-platform (Mac/Windows) environment.
Complete instructions for setup and use are included in the
LaserGreek CrossPlatform Converter User's Manual.
LaserGreek CrossPlatform Converter for Windows
LaserGreek CrossPlatform Converter for Windows includes 26 macros to convert
LaserGreek and LaserGreek II
text in Word for Macintosh documents that you have received from a Mac user, to
your LaserGreek and LaserGreek II for Windows font arrangement. You simply open
the Word for Mac document in Word for Windows, and with a few mouse clicks you
copy the appropriate macros into the document, run the macros, and then save the
document as a Word for Windows document with the Greek perfectly formatted. You
do not need to do Search and Replace operations to repair corrupted Greek
because the LaserGreek CrossPlatform Converter for Windows corrects all the
changes the Word import/export filter has made to the Greek text in your
document. System Requirements:
 | Operating Systems
 |
Requires Windows 7, Vista, XP, 2000, NT 4.0, Me,
98, or 95. |
|
 | Applications
 |
Requires Microsoft Word 2010, 2007, 2003, 2002
(XP), 2000, or 97. |
|
 | Fonts
 |
The Converter requires one or more of the
LaserGreek and/or LaserGreek II
fonts from Linguist's Software. |
 |
The LaserGreek for Windows fonts must be version 10.0 (dated April 25, 1997). The LaserGreek II for Windows fonts must be version 2.0 (dated April 25, 1997) or newer. If your fonts are older than version 10.0/2.0 you must first
update LaserGreek and/or LaserGreek II. Then the LaserGreek CrossPlatform Converter can be used to convert the
documents you have received from a Macintosh user. |
 |
How do I find the
version number? |
|
 | Documents
 |
The documents you are going to
convert must be Word for Macintosh files saved either in Rich Text
Format (RTF) or as a normal Word Document. |
 |
The Greek fonts used in the
documents must be from LaserGreek for Macintosh version 20.0 or newer, or
from LaserGreek II for Macintosh version 1.0 or newer. If the
documents were created with LaserGreek for Macintosh version 19.0 or
earlier, the documents must be updated on the Macintosh to current
LaserGreek fonts before transferring the documents to Windows to be
converted with the LaserGreek CrossPlatform Converter. |
 |
If the author of the Word for
Macintosh document used the Greek koppa in the document the
document must be saved by the Macintosh author in Rich Text Format
(RTF), instead of saving the document as a Word document. (In early
versions of Word Rich Text Format is called Interchange Format.) The
koppa is decimal character 0240 in LaserGreek fonts (and typed on
the Macintosh with the option-shift-k keystroke). If the koppa is
not in the document then the document may be saved either in RTF or
as a normal Word document. If you are not sure about the presence
of the koppa, and you have access to the Macintosh author, it is
safer to have the documents saved in RTF before they are sent you. |
